Sourcing: Chef-designed world cuisines with specialist ingredients.
The Cookaway is a chef-led recipe-box service built around authentic world cuisines - Indian, Italian, Japanese, Thai, Spanish and more. Crucially there is no subscription: you order a box as a one-off whenever you fancy it, and UK delivery is free.
It sits firmly at the premium, experiential end. Single-dish kits start around £18, while full themed menus run to £34-£85 a box, so the cost per portion is well above the mainstream subscription kits. Boxes are mostly designed for two to three people and need cooking within about 48 hours of arrival.
It is best thought of as a cook-at-home treat or a gift rather than a weekly-shop replacement - ideal for a special dinner or trying a cuisine you would not normally attempt.
Our hands-on notes: [To add - first-hand experience: portion sizes, how it cooked/tasted, packaging, and whether we would reorder.]
