Oddbox review

The food-waste box - cheapest, but not organic

7.9/10

Our verdict

The cheapest box and the strongest food-waste mission, with the trade-off that it is not organic and coverage is limited.

What we liked

  • Cheapest entry price of the three (£11.99)
  • Strong, quantified food-waste mission (B Corp)
  • Weekly or fortnightly flexibility
  • Low £1.99 delivery charge

What could be better

  • Not organic, unlike Riverford and Abel & Cole
  • Limited coverage - many postcodes are waitlisted
  • Subscription required, no true one-off
  • Evening and overnight delivery windows only

Packaging & ethics

  • Certified B Corp
  • Recyclable packaging
  • Plastic-free / returnable

Packaging: Minimal packaging; whole model is built around cutting food waste.

Sourcing: Surplus and cosmetically imperfect produce rescued from growers.

Oddbox is a food-waste subscription that rescues surplus and cosmetically imperfect fruit and veg directly from growers. The mission is the point: it has rescued tens of thousands of tonnes of produce and is a certified B Corp.

It is the cheapest of the main veg boxes, starting at £11.99 with a low £1.99 delivery charge, and you can choose weekly or fortnightly deliveries. The key trade-off versus Riverford and Abel & Cole is that Oddbox is not organic, and its delivery coverage is still limited to selected postcodes, with a waiting list elsewhere.

It suits budget-conscious, sustainability-minded households in covered areas who care more about cutting waste than about organic certification.

Our hands-on notes: [To add - first-hand experience: portion sizes, how it cooked/tasted, packaging, and whether we would reorder.]
